System Administrators
PROTEUS Technologies is seeking experienced Linux system administration candidates. Successful candidates must be comfortable installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Red Hat Enterprise Linux in production or development environments. The ideal candidate is experienced in a wide spectrum of related technical skill areas including TCP/IP networking, scripting, system backup and restores, software packaging and deployment, and peer mentoring in a leadership capacity.
  • Required Education:BS in Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another IT related curriculum 
  • Required Experience:8+ years experience as a System Administrator in a production datacenter or team development environment 
  • Clearance Requirements:A TS/SCI security clearance with a polygraph is highly desired, but not required. You must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a clearance. 
  • Required Skills
    • Proficiency in both manual and automated Red Hat Enterprise Linux installations
    • Proficiency in system and network configuration and troubleshooting
    • Experience in scripting languages, (e.g. Bash (preferred), Bourne, C shell, Perl)
    • Experience planning for and performing backups, restores, and disk imaging (e.g. dump, restore, dd)
    • Experience in installation and monitoring of Application Servers (e.g. Tomcat, Apache)
    • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware, Xen)
    • RHEL 4 / RHEL 5 experience
    • Experience with integrating Linux and Windows environments
    • RPM (RedHat Package Manager) - building, scripting, executing
    • Experience with the following: Remote support (PXE boot servers), Errata patching/updating, Building Linux Kernels, tweaking, Cisco Catalyst Switches (POE or otherwise), and Ghost Utilities.
    • Experience providing guidance to less experienced system administrators.
    • Self motivated team player who can work as a high-level independent contributor or Team Lead.
    • Ability to integrate into a multi-contractor Team.
  • Desired Skills
    • Experience in database installation, upgrades and maintenance (e.g. MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
    • Knowledge of the certification and accreditation (C&A) process and requirements defined by NISCAP and DITSCAP
    • Applicable recognized certifications (e.g. RHCT, RHCE)
    • Satellite Server experience
    • Experience with Dell enterprise class servers
