As part of a continuing valuable Mentor-Protégé relationship between Booz Allen Hamilton and PROTEUS Technologies, the two companies recently celebrated their partnership and recognition as Nunn–Perry Award nominees through joint attendance at the Annual Department of Defense Mentor-Protégé Conference, held March 2-5 in San Francisco, CA. The event, sponsored by the Office of the Secretary of Defense Office of Small Business Programs (OSBP), attended by invitation only, brings together Mentor and Protégé companies across multiple industries and disciplines, all of whom benefit from the knowledge shared, relationships built and business improvements realized by participation in the program.
The prestigious Nunn-Perry Award, named in recognition of former Senator Sam Nunn and former Secretary of Defense William Perry, was first awarded in 1995 to recognize outstanding Mentor-Protégé teams formed under the auspices of the DoD Mentor-Protégé program.
Proteus Technologies (PROTEUS) and Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc. (Booz Allen) are currently working together in a three year mentor-protégé agreement approved by the federal government. Through this contract, Booz Allen is assisting PROTEUS with business development, process improvement, and technology transfer, enabling PROTEUS to have a greater impact in the intelligence and defense markets.
The Mentor-Protégé Program encourages large prime contractors in their efforts to share business skills and technical expertise with small disadvantaged businesses. The program allows for mutually beneficial relationships between the government, the large prime mentor and the small disadvantaged protégé. Booz Allen, a Nunn-Perry Award winning mentor, has been participating in the DoD Mentor-Protégé Program since 1992, and has mentored more than 25 protégé firms.
PROTEUS Technologies, established in 1999, is a Maryland-based, certified 8(a), small disadvantaged and woman owned business. PROTEUS specializes in software and systems engineering services and solutions for National Intelligence Agencies, Government Health Services, and Commercial Industries. PROTEUS has received numerous awards and accolades, including rankings within the Deloitte and Touche Fast 500 and Fast 50 award programs and has been recognized by local and state Technology Councils for its strong growth, innovation and specialized contributions to National and local technology challenges.
Executive Vice President of PROTEUS, Dr. Charles Taylor, had this to say, "We are pleased to be the selected protégé for Booz Allen, as we have enjoyed many successes together in partnership endeavors to date. We know that we will benefit greatly from this new relationship, and are certain that our internal engineering and business processes will gain depth and rigor as a result of Booz Allen's vast experience in these key business process areas."
Booz Allen Hamilton Partner, Marty Hill stated, "we considered several high-potential small businesses and selected PROTEUS because of their demonstrated commitment to quality, ability to deliver value, and business ethics similar to our own core values". Booz Allen plans to continue building on our excellent relationship with PROTEUS and through our efforts in the recent past we have been able to collaboratively solve some of the Government's more complex IT processing challenges.
