PROTEUS Rallies Strong Support in the Walk to Defeat ALS
Baltimore, MD — October 30, 2009

For the fourth consecutive year the PROTEUS Technologies Team proudly united in support for the Walk to Defeat ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease) at Druid Hill Park in Baltimore. Staff and their family members rallied together as a team to champion this worthy cause and raise awareness and funding for the mission of the local ALS Association chapter.

This year marked PROTEUS' second to be recognized with the coveted Golden Shoe award for most registered participants with 57 walkers. Stephanie Moss, PROTEUS' Associate HR Director and Walk Captain commented, "I'm proud of our team's extraordinary efforts in garnering support and awareness for this debilitating disease." The team raised over $14,000 in funds which contributed to the $163,345 successfully raised by the Baltimore Walk. In Wakefield, MA walkers donated $86,425 to the cause.

The Walk to Defeat ALS is the national signature event for the ALS Association. Now in its tenth year, approximately 150 walks will be held nationwide. ALS is a fatal, neuromuscular disease which attacks the motor neurons, making even the simplest movements of walking, speaking and gesturing impossible. Ultimately, the body becomes paralyzed, yet through it all, the mind remains intact. The ALS Association staff helps families cope with the day-to-day struggle of living with the devastating disease. Through the generous walk contributions made each year, they are able to offer many crucial patient service programs that are free to patients and their families, as well as funding cutting-edge research worldwide.
