Michael W. Kauffman, Esquire
Vice President, Legal & Contracts

Mr. Michael W. Kauffman joined PROTEUS in 2009 as Vice President, Legal and Contracts. His responsibilities include providing legal, contracts and compliance leadership, business planning and process development, and business development strategies supporting PROTEUS' growth in adjacent Federal and commercial markets.

Prior to joining PROTEUS, Mike served as Vice President and General Counsel for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems. He has over ten years of IC experience and is well versed in the federal acquisition process, contract administration, business process development and standardization, government contracts law, preservation and licensing of intellectual property, and employment law. His expertise also reaches into the Cyber Initiative, information operations and computer digital forensics.

Mike's breadth of experience further includes over 12 years in private practice, most recently as a partner in the Government Contracts groups of national and regional law firms. He regularly represented clients engaged with the United States and industry partners to provide systems development and integration, platforms, commodities and information technology services.

Mike earned a bachelor's degree from Hood College and a juris doctor degree from The Georgetown University Law Center, and pursued coursework in Leading Change and Organizational Renewal at the Harvard Business School. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician in Sigonella, Sicily.

In his spare time, Mike enjoys networking at charitable industry events, practicing interior design, rooting for the Washington Redskins, watching the latest episode of House, and spending quiet time with his family.
